IRS Audits
The IRS examines some returns to determine if income, expenses and credits are being reported correctly. As a taxpayer, you have the right to be treated fairly, professionally, promptly, and courteously by IRS employees. Examinations can take place in your home, your place of business, an IRS office, or the office of your attorney or your CPA. However, the IRS makes the final determination of when, where, and how the examination will take place. Throughout the examination, you can act on your own behalf or have someone represent you entirely, or have someone accompany you. If you have been scheduled for an audit, my firm can represent you before the IRS, (you never have to meet with them) or I can accompany you during the examination. Please take the IRS notice of examination seriously. In most cases, professional guidance and negotiations with the IRS will pay big dividends.
